Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha stole the hearts of so many during its 2021 run on Netflix. With its heartwarming messages, loveable characters, and irresistible charm, it is sure to become a favorite drama for many. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha didn’t skip out on its fashion moments either! Even though it primarily takes place in a fishing village and not the cityscape of Seoul, let’s not overlook the good styling of the characters. Here are the best looks from our big city girl, Yoon Hye-Jin, and the best chief around, Hong Du-Sik.
Perhaps this is the most recognizable outfit from the entire show! Ms.Dentist shows us that style doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes, it’s as simple as a white turtleneck and sparkly heels. These are the shoes that started it all! They are Flower Strass Buckle Pumps from Roger Vivier. She tucks her white turtleneck into high-waisted navy slacks. Her pink Hermes wallet adds a pop of pink. For jewelry, she wears silver earrings and a matching watch.
Chief Hong is the master of casual yet confident. Here he sports a striped long-sleeve t-shirt from Champion. Rolled-up sleeves show that he is ready for the day ahead. He pairs this mustard shirt with twill cargo pants from Frizmworks. Notice that he tucks in the shirt, which adds shape to this fit. It’s little things like rolled-up sleeves, or a tucked-in shirt, that can take an outfit from good to great!
It was so nice seeing Hye-Jin kick back and have fun. For her casual fit, she wears a raccoon blended v-neck cardigan from MARDI MERCREDI. This pink cardigan not only looks cozy but it can easily be dressed up too, which we see nods to in how she pairs a set of pearl earrings with the look. However, her washed denim jeans keep it down to earth, as well as white Crocs.
Du-Sik rocks flannel. He layers an Acon Mas plaid shirt from CARGOBROS over a white tee. Notice how he tucks this one in as well, but keeps it open and loose at the bottom. This is another fashion elevating move from the chief. He pairs this with loose denim trousers with rolled-up ends, a black belt, and high-top grey Converse. This is a perfect “I wasn’t trying” look. And yet, there are hints that there was clear intentionality involved when styling this fit. This subtle confidence is king when dressing casually.
This youthful look was perfect on Ms. Dentist. She wears a white, zip-fastened, short-sleeve blouse from Philip Lim, which she tucks into a black bubble hem mini skirt also from Philip Lim. For shoes, she wears black leather loafers from Prada, paired with black knee-high stockings. This gives off major school girl vibes and we love that this playful side of Hye-Jin was shown. Her stud pearl earrings are from TASAKI. Her bag is from Prada and is quite unique. This purple triangular design includes all-around zip fastening and silver-toned hardware.
The King of Casual is back with another layered look. This time, he sports an oversized polo from Frizmworks which is layered over a white tee. Again, he chooses to roll up the sleeves and tuck in the shirt. His trousers have a unique design with white stitching and denim patchwork. This worn look is perfect for someone as hands-on as Du-Sik. He finishes the look with his grey Converse.
Who else looked this stylish whilst stepping in as a midwife!? Hye-Jin stayed up all night delivering a baby in this beautiful embroidered top from Gucci. This cropped silhouette with puffed sleeves has cute floral embroidery at the chest. She pairs this with high-waisted jeans. Her SR1 70mm ankle-strap sandals are from Sergio Rossi and are the perfect pair. These sandals have a small heel which elevates the look. For jewelry, she adds refined rebellion signature garnet earrings from TASAKI.
Chief Hong looks a bit rougher around the edges in this look. His grey double-sleeve t-shirt is from Juun.J. This tee is great because of the fading and tonal webbing trim, as well as the rib-knit crewneck collar. He half-tucks this into slim-fit cargo joggers from Juun.J. He tops off the look with some black and red high-top kicks, which adds a perfect pop of color to the look and is an excellent choice for chasing down a bad guy or working a late night shift.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha taught us about authenticity and respect for others. Chief Hong became so well-loved because of his unique personality and how he stayed true to himself. Likewise, Ms. Dentist became less materialistic and was able to break down some of her walls, which was reflected in her clothing choice as the show progressed. Fashion is all about displaying who you really are. It should be highlighting what you want to portray as a person, not necessarily what society dictates.
